ALL4SC – The Accelerator for Learning and Leadership for South Carolina

Fairfield County is located approximately 35 minutes north of the main campus of the University of South Carolina in downtown Columbia. The work begins in four schools identified by the Fairfield County School district serving students from PK-12th grade. These schools – Fairfield Elementary, Fairfield Middle, the Career & Technology Center, and Fairfield Central High school – sit in the heart of the county. In addition, partnerships have been formed with United Way of the Midlands, Fairfield Forward, and First Steps as we work together to build a comprehensive, cradle-to-career model.

Research and Evaluation

Annual reports and white papers will be created to identify and share the progress of the partnership between ALL4SC and the communities of South Carolina. The use of locally developed core competencies to frame outcome measures and locally-developed data dashboards will provide assessment of growth and continued model revision.

Partnership Highlights

  • Established the President’s Mentoring Initiative, which will marshal the assets of the entire University to create more access and opportunity for young people from Fairfield County to be ready for college and career.
    • Benefits to the schools: students from Fairfield will have the opportunity to walk alongside UofSC undergraduates, as they explore issues of ethics, understanding college and career opportunities, leadership, research design and presentation and social-emotional supports.
    • Benefits to UofSC: undergraduate mentors have an opportunity to earn course credit for their experiences, as well as support fellow South Carolinians in gaining access and opportunity to prepare for post-secondary success.
